A research-oriented environment
IECS is located within the European Pole for Management and Economics, which means it has full access to research-related facilities such as the inter-university library. CESAG is part of the Augustin Cournot PhD school, which, through the proximity of other center such as the "BETA" Offi ce of Applied and Theoretical Economics and the "LARGE" Economics and Management Research Center, offers a stimulating research environment.
The option of a research Master's during the Master "Grande École"
Students may elect to follow a research-oriented track during their Master "Grande École". The program is specially designed to allow 3rd year students to simultaneously validate the last year of the program and the last year of the Research Master's (M2) and opens the door to thesis work within the PhD program. At the end of the program, students have two options: prepare a PhD thesis on corporate issues or move into professional life with a research-based background which is highly valued by corporate recruiters.
Innovation in Teaching
One of the roles of IECS lecturer-researchers is designing case-studies. Teaching at IECS is largely based on a three-prong approach: field research, scientific production and case-studies. Innovation and study design is driven by a number of factors: the desire of lecturer-researchers to use true-to-life models to produce research papers and case-studies, the close involvement of IECS management in providing internal training for lecturer-researchers, incentives for working with professionals and also a special "case-study budget" allocated to each teacher for his or her projects. IECS case-studies are regular winners of awards given by the Education Media and Case-Studies Centre (CCMP), a division of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their quality and their innovation.
